Man held on suspicion of murder after latest arrest over fatal Sheffield shooting

A 29-year-old man is being held in custody on suspicion of murder after he was arrested today in connection with a fatal shooting in Sheffield.

A 23-year-old woman also remains in custody, where she is being questioned by officers, after she was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They were both arrested in connection with the killing of 23-year-old Aseel Al-Essaie, who was gunned down in Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe, on February 18.

They were detained after armed police pulled over a minbus on The Parkway in Sheffield on Monday, with witnesses claiming guns were aimed at the vehicle.

Five people have been arrested previously in connection with Mr Al-Essaie's death - one on suspicion of murder, three on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and one on suspicion of assisting offenders. All five were released on bail after being questioned.
