A fire-eater was among the hottest attractions as families flocked to the park for some traditional fun.

Revellers at the Weston Park May Fayre also made a point of checking out the sword walker’s daring antics at today’s free festival.

Youngsters enjoyed fairground rides, go-karting and craft activities, as well as the chance to meet Hunter the Sinraptor Dinosaur.

Visitors of all ages were treated to live music on the restored Victorian bandstand, a display of classic and vintage cars and appearances from characters including Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers from Star Wars.

This year’s event had a bit of a Chinese theme, courtesy of the University of Sheffield’s Confucius Institute, with calligraphy classes and a chopstick competition among the attractions.

The fair was organised by Sheffield Council in conjunction with the University of Sheffield, Friends of Crookesmoor Parks, The Children’s Hospital Charity and Heart.
