MAYFEST organiser Scott Barton isn't at all downhearted about the poor Bank Holiday weather forecast - he says there has never been a better time for singing in the rain!
And he urged festival-goers not to be put off by the forecast of heavy rain during the event on Sunday and Monday.
“Over 90 per cent of our event is undercover. Just bring a brolly and you’ll be fine.” he said. “Our live music line-up is the best on record and even a spot of poor weather won’t stop tens of thousands of people descending on our new Don Valley Bowl site.”
Chart-topping Beverley Knight, who has released five top selling albums and enjoyed single success with the likes of Greatest Day and Shoulda Woulda Coulda, is set to headline the event’s Real Radio Live Music Stage at the event alongside Gareth Gates, Right Said Fred, Jack Savaretti and rising star Ross Copperman who recently enjoyed an iTunes number one with As I Choke.
Attractions also include a kids’ beach party, craft market, rodeo bull, robot wars, army displays, art marquee and giant zip wire.
There will also be the BBC Radio Sheffield Bus, a fun fair, laser clay shooting, beer tents, climbing wall, kids fun zone, boxing displays and an ice rink.
The event runs from 11am until 6.30pm each day. Admission is £7 for adults, £4 for children aged 14 and under, and is free for under threes. Visit www.sheffieldevents.com or call the public information line on 0114 2565656.
