A ‘zombie run’ is expected to raise more than £20,000 for Barnsley Hospital.
The unusual event, in which runners tackle a 5km obstacle course that includes dodging actors dressed up as the undead, is taking place on October 18 at Worsbrough Mill, starting at 11.30am.
Professional special effects make-up artists will be helping to create the zombie costumes, with runners being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to take part in aid of Barnsley Hospital Charity.
Katie Cartwright, fundraising manager, said: “We are so excited about the Zombie Run this year and really want to give the runners an even better experience than before.
“Sponsorship is so important and is one of the easiest ways for people to raise money at an event like this so we really want to encourage all our runners to do their bit for the charity.”
The event took place for the first time last year, raising £20,000 – and organisers are hoping to beat that amount this time.
n Tickets are available for £30 per person from www.zombierunbarnsley.co.uk, with discounts available for group bookings.
