Youth workers hit right note on teen angst

A SHEFFIELD girl band has formed a charity to help young women struggling with pressures of growing up in today's society.

Golddigger is made up of three youth workers - Mandy Toombs, aged 29, from Totley, Rachel Stott, 29, from Dore, and Beth Taylor, 20, from Liverpool.

The trio perform gigs and run courses designed to help young teens growing up in an image-conscious world.

The songs have been so successful in promoting their messages of positive self-esteem, good sense and confidence they are now fully booked up at venues all across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.

Golddigger met three years ago when they were youth workers in Sheffield.

They are now a registered charity and deliver "I am the Girl I want to Be" courses to small groups of girls at schools, youth centres and churches.
