Have there been any public meetings in and around the city ahead of the local elections on May 5 at which the prospective candidates have asked citizens along for question and answer sessions?
If so, I haven’t heard about them or received an invitation to one of them.
I am sure I am not alone in wondering what skills our councillors have, especially when it is reported that some very large sums of money have been paid to consultants for one project or another and which, if there was more experience or expertise among council members, could perhaps be saved or reduced.
The expenditure to date of these huge sums could to some extent be accepted if improvements had been achieved, whereas the money seems to have disappeared down a large plug-hole never to be seen again.
Can we hope out of the forthcoming elections there may appear a councillor with the experience to have a word with the contractors to start giving us value for the huge PFI budget being paid out and speeding up the snail’s pace of the whole road repairs operation.
