It makes a mockery of the idea that ‘Times are tough in Britain’ when you look at some of the Cheltenham festival numbers.

£150 million bet on the festival, 265,000 pints of Guinness consumed, 120,000 bottles of champagne sold, five tons of smoked salmon eaten.

Who was it said times are tough in Blighty?
