HAVING a sister, so the saying goes, is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. Whatever you do, they’ll be there.

So it has proven for Danielle and Holly Redfern who will be right alongside each other next month - when they become the first siblings to ever compete for the Miss South Yorkshire title.

The pair, both dance instructors of Packman Way, Wath-upon-Dearne, will go head to head in the contest’s semi-finals.

“I’m scared to ask mum who she’s supporting,” says Danielle, 23. “I might not like the answer. How would I feel if Holly won? I’d probably not speak to her again.”

She’s joking, of course.

“At least I hope she is,” says Holly, 17. “We’re really close. If I don’t win, I’ll be cheering Danielle on. It’s just a bit of a laugh.”

The closed-door semi final takes place at Rotherham’s Holiday Inn, in West Bawtry Road, on February 26. A live final is held at the same venue on April 15.
