HERE’S Santa as you’ve probably never seen him before – stuck on top of Sheffield Town Hall.
The big bearded fella gets himself in a spot of festive bother in an illustrated children’s book set in the city.
Santa Is Coming To Sheffield is one of 34 books released this year which see Saint Nic get lost in various towns and cities across the UK. And these local tales are proving as popular as a mince pie and a glass of milk left out on Christmas Eve.
“I think people like to see Santa flying above places they know,” says Catherine Gilbert of Bath-based publishers Hometown World. “Grandparents and parents like reading the stories and asking the kids if they recognise such a place.”
Buildings which crop up in our edition include The Winter Garden and Arts Tower before – the good news – the old boy makes a successful landing at Weston Park. The presents, safe to say, get delivered.
