Have your say

YOU may never have heard of Bernard Herrmann but you’ve almost certainly heard his work.

Think stabbings in the shower, a man running away from an aeroplanes and a San Francisco rooftop chase.

All classic Alfred Hitchcock movie scenes - from Psycho, North By Northwest, and Vertigo - for which Herrmann, right, composed the music.

Now his work will be celebrated during a season of 32 concerts and events being held by Sheffield University. It marks the 100th anniversary of the American’s birth

Season starts Thursday. Full programme available at www.sheffield.ac.uk/concerts

STOCK car enthusiasts from South Yorkshire are wanted to race to Lancashire for a reunion night.

The Veterans Stock Car Association says the sport, which regularly features at Owlerton Stadium, is popular in the region - and it is looking for past and present drivers, mechanics and officials to attend its annual get together.

Interested? It’s free and there’s a quiz. Takes place March 5 at Boarshurst Band Club, in Greenbridge Lane, Saddleworth.
