Surprise surprise, the bus fares are going up.
I think that was pretty much nailed on.
Although bosses won’t admit it, the footfall of people using the bus services must have dropped significantly, hence the price hike.
Typical management thinking.
Rather than admitting they got it wrong with the calamitous bus changes and sacking the idiot who thought it up, they put the fares up to cover the shortfall.
Of course it’s not only the transport industry that go down this route.
When a pub or a club suffers a shortfall in customers, their knee-jerk reaction is to put the drinks’ prices up to maintain their profits, instead of reducing prices to try and entice more people to use their business.
The top brass at Sheffield Wednesday have found this out, to their cost, when they started charging fans Premiership prices to watch Championship football.
The proof being their last home match, when they dropped the prices to a more sensible £20 and got a few short of 30,000 against Charlton, who are a bottom three team.
Just imagine what the crowds would have been against the top sides?
Anyway, all I can say is bring back ‘Blakey’.
