IT has been suggested in the past that The Diary has only featured certain stories because there’s an attractive girl involved.
An unjust accusation, we’re sure you’ll agree.
But just to balance the books here’s one for the ladies.
Tom Vincent is young, skinny and does a fine-line in neck-scarf wearing.
The 22-year-old is also one of 20 catwalk wannabes who has just won a public vote to become a finalist in a city-wide competition to find Sheffield’s next top model.
The student, who lives in the city centre, will be joined by nine other guys and ten girls - including mum Nicola Moore, 21, also of Sheffield city centre - during a live final next month.
Two winners will then be given a year-long contract with city firm DK Model Management.
Katie Gollick, who has organised the competition as part of her Sheffield Hallam University leisure management course, said: “We had nearly 100 people enter and more than 2,000 people voting so the final 20 have already done really well to get this far.
“Whoever wins, though, one thing’s for sure - Sheffield’s a beautiful city.”
The final, which will also see Sheffield Eagles Rugby League Club modelling their new kit, will take place at Walkabout Bar, in Carver Street, on March 10. Tickets £5.
All proceeds go to Barnardo’s and Mencap.
