IT is set to be one of the most surreal – and colourful – spectacles Sheffield has seen in some time.
More than 100 cross-dressers from across the north are set to descend on The Moor next week for the opening night of a new transvestites club evening.
Organiser Rupert Laylor – a 6 ft 1 in, 16-stone security guard also known sometimes as Vixen Mynx – has confirmed the massive event, first mooted in The Diary last month, will take place at Dempseys bar in Hereford Street.
And he said cross-dressing friends from across the north had promised to come along and make it a (ladies) night to remember.
“It’s going to be spectacular,” says Rupert, a 34-year-old father-of two of Payler Close, Manor. “I’ve been whipping up enthusiasm for it and the first night is free so we’re confident there’ll be more than 100 of us there – but you don’t have to be a transvestite. Anyone with an open-mind is welcome to come along and enjoy.”
He decided to host the event after growing tired of having to travel to other major cities for similar nights.
If it’s a success it will become a weekly night from June. Takes place next Tuesday, May 24.
