On Tuesday morning I went to visit my best friend Shirley who is a resident at the Herries Lodge care home.
Shirley and I have been friends since we were 16. I am now 82 and have to use a mobility scooter to get about.
I was crossing the main road to get to Herries Lodge and my scooter hit the kerb, I was thrown off and the scooter landed on top of me. I cried out for help but nobody was near me.
A car driver saw what had happened and stopped to see if I was all right. The lady and her male passenger lifted the scooter off me and helped me to my feet.
They could see that I was very shaken. I managed to get back on my scooter, and the lady insisted on walking beside me to Shirley’s home. She signed us in at reception and took me upstairs to my friend’s flat.
The lady never told me her name, I thanked her for her help and kindness.
I hope she is a reader of The Star so that I can thank her more profusely. I would like the lady and her passenger to know how grateful I am for their help, They were my good Samaritans and did not pass me by.
