The pieces celebrate the city’s two teams by imagining four players from each having a bar room drink.

In the Wednesday Legends Class of 93 painting, David Hirst, John Sheridan, Roland Nilsson and Chris Waddle share respectively a Barnsley bitter, Guinness, continental lager and Newcastle Brown Ale.

In the red corner, meanwhile, Tony Currie, Keith Edwards, Jimmy Hagan and Brian Deane - each in a kit from their own era - sit around a table. Wild man Currie notably has a chaser.

Pete, 45, will reveal the paintings at his gallery Month Of Sundays in Sharrow Vale Road, Sharrow Vale, on Saturday. A competition to win a print is being run at www.therealmckee.co.uk
