Let’s put the Great back into Britain

Have your say

I really must respond to the article ‘What Would Donald Trump Do?’ (Star, September 5).

First of all, who the hell is Blaise Tapp and why does he merit a column all to himself moaning on about people who complain about noisy children in restaurants?

If a child is persistently disruptive then the parents should remove him/her from a restaurant out of courtesy and respect for other diners.

However, I have been in restaurants where children eating with parents have been perfectly well-behaved.

I do not consider it ‘intolerant’ to expect children to behave properly, especially in a public place where consideration should be shown to others.

What on earth has this got to do with Donald Trump?

This is about parental responsibility and teaching children good manners.

Mr Tapp also says “the undercurrent of intolerance to others is something which ultimately led to the Brexit vote”.

What rubbish!

On the contrary, the British people have been incredibly tolerant for more than 40 years while the EU interfered in every aspect of our daily lives.

When the long overdue Referendum took place on June 23 the majority sensibly decided that enough was enough.

The Brexit vote had nothing whatsoever to do with ‘intolerance to others’, but the fact that those who voted to ‘Leave’ no longer wanted to live in a country that could not decide its own future, but was dictated to by an unelected body of people in Brussels who will never understand or appreciate the value we place on the British way of life.

For goodness sake Mr Tapp, there is nothing ‘intolerant’ about expecting children to behave properly and certainly nothing ‘intolerant’ about wanting our country to be an independent nation that governs itself, and not have our laws decided by the EU.

It is about time that all the ‘Remainers’ accepted the democratic will of the people, displayed confidence in our country and our ability to move forward successfully, and make a positive contribution to putting the ‘Great’ back into Britain.

The people made their decision, you lost – get over it!
