I have made up my mind

We all know what it is like to be in the EU. We can travel freely and workers have some safeguards etc. Regardless of the referendum result, our relationship with the EU will change.

On June 22 ,2015, the EU Commission published its key report. It has been dubbed The Five Presidents Report. This kind of report has previously heralded a new treaty. The document commits all EU members to – genuine economic union, financial union, fiscal union and political union by 2025. It also calls for a deepening of the single market.

You can translate these commitments as you wish. No doubt the commission will do likewise. Mr Cameron has stated that he will not join the Euro and he does not wish to move to closer union.

Currently our treasury pays £55 million per day into the EU. The amount coming back varies in amount and is directed for specific purposes. UK trade within the EU yields a deficit in the order of £40 billion and rising. In contrast our trade with the rest of the world gives a small surplus.

The UK joined the Common Market more than 40 years ago. Over the years that have followed, the EU has grown into its present form. The UK has the sixth largest economy in the world. Our governments have run up a debt of more than £1.6 trillion over the last 20 years. The interest on the debt costs them £40 billion each year. (Source www.taxpayersalliancedebtclock). The media are quoting the immigration level as 300,000 per annum.

After listening to experts and trawling the internet, the true number residing here cannot be quoted. I can only say that my research indicates that there are between 10 and 15 million people living in the UK who were not born here, half of them being of Indian origin.

The EU has been responsible for the decimation of our fishing industry. The profitable Royal Mail was lost along with many of our post offices as the result of EU directives. The vote is yours. No so-called expert or politician can predict what will happen after the referendum. It will be one small step. When that step has been taken, our future will be determined by Brussels or Westminster. I have made up my mind on the strength of the facts I have quoted. To the best of my knowledge, I have told you no lies.
