BUDDING Sheffield film maker Stephen Slater is hoping to wow the critics with his latest movie - and win himself £750.

Stephen, aged 31, whose film-making Rocket and Spade company are based at the Workstation, entered a film-makers’ competition and had to cut along a bit smartish to get his entry in.

“I got into education and film making a bit later than most,” says the former Abbeydale Grange schoolboy who graduated from Hallam University with a degree in media studies last week.

“The idea was that you got the theme of the project on the Friday and the film had to be finished by Monday, The theme was Reflections and I thought most would go deep on personal reflections, so I chose a comic route instead.

“We had an actor play the role and the reflection comes in a split screen format.”

The father-of-three, of Batemoor, is hoping the competition will kick start his film career. Winners will be announced in January. Good luck lad.
