YOU might say the chance of this happening is a long shot - but it was actually two long shots.
Father and son Warwick and Paul Binns both hit holes-in-one in the same round of golf.
First, 69-year-old Warwick notched his four-some effort at the eighth at Lees Hall Golf Club in Hemsworth - but, not to be out done, Paul, 49, repeated the trick at the 16th.
“I couldn’t believe it,” says the older man, a retired demolition manager of Alnwick Road, Intake. “Talk about stealing my thunder.”
The pair - both members of Tinsley Park Golf Club - were playing in a 14-man match organised by the Hollin Bush Golf Society.
“I couldn’t have him taking all the glory,” says Paul, a 49-year-old fabrications worker and father-of-two of Newlands Grove, Intake.
Warwick’s shot was on a 195-yard par three hole, while Paul’s was also par three at 135 yards.
It was the younger man’s third hole-in-one but for grandad-of-four Warwick it was a first.
“I’m chuffed to bits,” he said. “Who’d have ever thought it?”
