SUPERB spot from Diary spies who saw this Indian restaurant while ambling down Lincoln’s Aswell Street.
“Deedar?” says our man with the cam. “Do you think the owners are from Barnsley?”
IT seems Miss South Yorkshire Hannah Higgins has been making something of a spectacle of herself.
The 20-year-old Diary star aimed to collect 1,000 pairs of glasses to take to The Gambia where she will spend the next fortnight working at a temporary opticians.
“But everyone’s been so generous and I’ve had so many people helping me I’ve ended up with 2,000 pairs,” says the student of Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham. “They’re now in my cellar. I think my mum will be glad to see the back of them.”
The only problem? She’s got so many pairs, there will be more than can be used at the Gambia clinic. The rest will be sent off to China.
AND talking of Miss South Yorkshire, runner-up Laura Gregory has been named Miss Middlesex.
The 23-year-old. of Brinsworth, Rotherham, who appeared on these pages for her fire-eating skills, went to university down there – and so was eligible to enter the contest.
She’ll now join Hannah at Miss England later in the year.
FINALLY, from the nationals, congratulations to Michael Dean, the 59-year-old self-employed computer programmer who has just graduated from the Open University – 34 years after starting his course.
As one commentator noted, he got there by degrees.
Thank you and good night.
