Have your say

Last week the Government announced that it was scrapping its controversial ‘pay to stay’ proposal under the Housing and Planning Act to introduce higher levels of rents for local council and housing association households earning more than £31,000 per year in our area.

This change of heart is to be welcomed.

Your publication needs to be praised for bringing this issue to the attention of your readers in September.

As do the efforts of Tony Tigwell and his colleagues in Gleadless Valley Labour Party who fought a campaign alerting the people living in that area of the unfairness of this policy.

Congratulations to all involved in helping to get the Government to change its mind!
