Bully-boy tactics

I was saddened to read that tree campaigner Dave Dilner, who has led a valiant protest against Sheffield City Council's tree-felling programme, has had his latest appeal to block the project rejected in the High Court (Star, July 29).

I find it quite astonishing that the judge ruled that the council’s consultation efforts were ‘adequate’ and could not be challenged.

It is high time that the disgraceful bully-boy tactics of our arrogant and soulless council were brought to an end as all they ever do is blatantly disregard the views of Sheffield residents and show contempt for anyone who stands up to them.

They have also made a mockery of the Tree Panel by ignoring all sensible suggestions and recommendations which, if acted upon, could save most of the trees scheduled for felling.
