RUSSIAN Dolls, breast-shaped vases, crazy bunnies, test tubes, tiny books, ceramic chickens, handbags and giant ice creams.
Welcome to the latest exhibition at Cupola in Hillsborough.
The Middlewood Road gallery has been trading 20 years but owner Karen Sherwood reckons they’ve never had an exhibition as diverse as this before. And looking at that list, she may have a point.
Something To Tickle Your Fancy, features work by dozens of different artists which has been specially selected “to bring a wry smile or a belly laugh or just a spirit of optimism to the viewer,” she says. “It was such a fun show to select. The biggest problem was knowing when to stop.”
Upstairs, meanwhile, will be a range of Russian dolls as part of Kate Sully’s attached Matroyshka exhibition.
The exhibition runs from this Saturday to Friday, July 3. Launch night this Friday from 7.30pm.
