AND talking of (semi) famous musicians, you may well recognise the chap who’s currently busking in Fargate each afternoon.
That’s Barnaby Southgate, star of touring children’s play Hare and Tortoise which is currently running at the Crucible.
It seems when the 23-year-old gets off stage after the 1.30pm show he spends the rest of the afternoon trying to earn a few extra quid playing his accordion.
Phew. And people say these theatre types are workshy luvvies.
“I can’t deny I’m shattered when I get off stage,” says the Oxford lad. “But there’s something relaxing about busking, and it’s lovely when you see someone doing their Christmas shopping looking harassed and then they’ll hear your tune and brighten up.”
He hasn’t been recognised yet – “but I don’t wear my hare ears when I’m busking,” he notes.
Now he plans to keep the city in song until the show run at the Crucible’s Studio ends on January 7.
