AND here are three ducks which aren’t part of coLor’s trail – but this trio of giant birds are causing something of a flap nonetheless.
The massive mural, modelled on the iconic 1970s house decoration, has been painted on a terrace end house in Albert Road, Heeley.
Home owner Izzy Price commissioned Meersbrook artist Mark Davies to create the piece after the brick wall was clad in a plain cream material as part of a home insulation project.
“She wanted the ducks because her gran had some in her living room,” says the 35-year-old of Molloy Street. “We worked on a couple of designs and then plumped for this one – the idea was just to make the street a more fun place to look at.
“It took about four weeks to do because the weather was so unpredictable. At one point I was almost blown off. Then the sun was too bright, reflecting off the wall.”
But now it’s done, it’s quite the talking point.
“Making the house warmer and cheaper to heat was my main concern,” says Sheffield University worker Izzy. “But I realised there would be a large, bare, wall and I wanted to have something put on it that everybody could enjoy.”
