AND here’s another Sheffield actress who will soon be making waves in the world of soap.
Charlene Shaw will be seen playing saucy stripogram Imelda in Coronation Street next month.
The 29-year-old – a pole-dancing teacher and occasional nude model in real-life – does a scintillating routine for none other than Ken Barlow in the Rovers Return.
Viewers will see her get the legendary pensioner hot under the collar after mistakenly targeting him while booked to perform at Jason Grimshaw’s 28th birthday.
The error leads to an all-out brawl in which Imelda punches feisty Becky McDonald.
Phew. If that doesn’t win some viewers from EastEnders, nothing will.
Charlene was born in the city but now lives in Chester and studies at the Laine Johnson Theatre School in Salford. She sells herself as “a bubbly, hard working outgoing and versatile girl with a strong personality” and adds: “I love to work hard and I am very keen to be pushed to my limits. I believe I have what it takes to be successful in the media and television.”
And it seems she might just be right.
A Coronation Street insider told one tabloid: “The storyline has it all – sex, violence and comedy. It would be lovely to have Imelda around more.”
The scenes are set to be screened towards the end of June.
