Youngsters join the smart set thanks to Rotary Club's good sports

PUPILS at a South Yorkshire special school are looking sporty and smart thanks to a £3,000 donation from the Rotary Club.

The Willows School at Thurcroft, Rotherham, was devastated by last summer's floods and was closed for more than three months while repairs were completed.

The children's PE and sports kits in school were ruined by sewage-tainted waters and had to be thrown away.

But the Rotary cash has helped replace all the clothing and the pupils are now looking better than ever.

"Apart from the PE kit, we've been able to buy two sets of football strips, for the lower and upper schools, as well as rugby kit, training tops and rainjackets," said head of PE Darren Atkinson.

"The children also have now trainers and football boots and the donation has really helped boost their self-esteem - everyone says how smart they look."
