IT’S all change at a popular Rotherham youth centre – and teenagers organised a day of activities to showcase their hard work.

The Phoenix Celebration event was staged at the Herringthorpe centre on Chaucer Road, where leader Marcus Hercombe was moving on to a new post in Rawmarsh.

Youngsters said goodbye – and welcomed his replacement Matt Ellis with a packed programme of music and art.

There was also a symbolic handing over of the keys by the young people to Matt and his team.

“It was a celebration event to mark the start of a new era,” Matt said.

“It was organised as a thank you to Marcus and his staff for all the hard work they’d done. We had bands and solo performers playing through the day with a wide variety of music, plus a barbecue.

“The changes have all been part of a wider shake-up of the youth service which has seen many people moving to pastures new.”
