Young Sheffield driver fighting for life after tree crash

A MOTORIST is fighting for life in hospital after he lost control of his car on a bend, ploughed through a wall and into a tree.

The 19-year-old, from Sheffield, was travelling along Mortimer Road, Strines, when his black Vauxhall Astra failed to negotiate a left hand bend.

Police said he was taken to the Northern General Hospital in a life threatening condition.

Four passengers, aged 19 and 20, escaped without serious injuries.

Witnesses to the collision at 12.05am this morning, or the moments leading up to it, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 12 of May 29.
