Calling Star Walk veterans, city firms, tiny toddlers and sporting teams.
Have you signed up for this year’s unique Star Walk?
There are just three weeks to go and our fun day fundraiser is attracting people from all walks of life and levels of fitness.
MP Meg Munn has signed up and Lord Mayor Councillor John Campbell and Lady Mayoress Catherine Taylor will also be there.
Council Leader Julie Dore has called for as many councillors and members of the public to take part.
She said she has been delighted at the amount of support and praise the Women of Steel Statue Appeal has been receiving from every corner of the city.
Coun Dore put a motion before the council last week urging everyone to back the campaign and was pleased it received such a positive response.
All money raised at this month’s Star Walk will go to the Women of Steel Statue Appeal which will stand in Barker’s Pool.
It is being created by sculptor Martin Jennings to honour the women who kept the steel works producing everything from guns and bullets to tanks, planes and ships during both world wars.
The Star Walk starts at 11am in Hillsborough Park on Sunday, April 28. It is unlike other previous events as it is just a mile lap of the park and has just a mile lap so that the women, now aged in their 80s and 90s can also take part.
So far a huge range of people have put their names forward for the event.
The youngest is two and the oldest is 94.
The walk is also attracting several Star Walk veterans who admit they might not be able to complete the 13 miles they tackled a few decades ago, but are looking forward to joining in the mile walk.
Some people have vowed to do the walk in fancy dress in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the Statue Appeal.
Entry is open to all ages and costs £10 for adults and £5 for children.
