Terry Palmer got it wrong.
There were 641,000 immigrants into the UK last year, not 318,000.
The lower figure is after allowing for Britons emigrating to places such as Australia, Spain etc.
So at current levels it’s like the population of a city such as Sheffield arriving every year, with their demand for homes, gas and electric energy, jobs, health-care, education and so on.
