Yorkshire Water is warning customers to prepare for the winter to try to prevent frozen pipes in their homes.
As temperatures plummet, the water firm is providing advice on how to fight the effects of frost to avoid frozen and burst pipes.
As an added incentive 2,000 free packs, containing pipe lagging and a tap cover to protect garden taps when temperatures dip, are being offered to customers.
Aimee Laycock from Yorkshire Water said: “When the temperature plummets customers’ pipes become more susceptible to freezing and bursting so it’s really important that people follow our advice on how to protect their homes in advance of winter.
“We hope lots of people take advantage of our free winter packs.
“At this time of year it’s also really important people think about how they can help get their friends, family and neighbours homes ready for winter.
“We offer a free service called Helping Hands that’s designed to help people who require additional support, such as elderly customers, those with a disability or serious injury, mobility issues or a serious medical condition.”
