A SHEFFIELD namesake of bride-to-be and future member of the Royal family Kate Middleton has been getting lots of attention since the forthcoming nuptials were announced...

Sheffield’s own Kate Middleton is a 24-year-old hotel manager who is now something of an attraction at her place of work - especially once guests notice her name badge.

She said foreign visitors to the city are particularly enthralled by the coincidence.

But Kate is now experiencing her biggest dose of fame yet, after her name landed her a spot in a top women’s glossy magazine.

Kate has appeared as part of a feature on namesakes just like her from all around the country - including a transsexual whose name is Kate Middleton.

The Cosmopolitan spread saw Sheffield’s Kate attend a professional makeover and photo shoot where she posed perching on the knee of a Wills lookalike.

The whole ensemble was made up for blonde haired Kate to look as much like the future princess as possible - from the sleek, glossy tresses and replica blue Danielle Issa Helayel dress, to the ring on her third finger.

It was designed to look just like Kate Middleton’s engagement ring of 18-carat blue sapphire, surrounded by 14 diamonds.

The ring used to belong to Princess Diana.

Kate, from Woodseats, said: “It’s funny because when I was little I always told people I was going to marry Prince William. I had a serious crush on him. And now I am… sort of!”

She said she didn’t mind missing out on the heir to the throne herself - and admitted she was quite enjoying the extra attention her name is attracting.

“Since Kate and William got engaged I’ve been getting more and more attention for my name,” Kate said.

“I have to wear a name badge at work, so the guests are always pointing it out - especially people from America and Germany. I’m like a tourist attraction!

“But I don’t mind - it’s a good ice-breaker. And I like Kate - she’s very beautiful and classy.”

The Royal wedding takes place on Friday April 29 at Westminster Abbey.

The day has been declared a public bank holiday in celebration.

Sheffield’s Kate appears in the March edition of Cosmopolitan, out now.
