SCHOOLS who sang their hearts out in a world record attempt are being urged to return official documents to confirm they took part.

Staff at the Sheffield schools which signed up to the sign2sing Guinness World Record on Wednesday, February 6, must send in the information so organisers can determine whether it was a success.

The attempt involved pupils simultaneously signing and singing a song, and was organised by national charity SignHealth, which helps deaf people.

Steve Powell, SignHealth chief executive, said: “We need the witness statement forms along with photographic or video evidence to send to Guinness World Records, so they can officially confirm we have broken the world record.

“It’s vital we have these or all the children’s hard work won’t count.

“The previous world record, which we set last year, was 114,277, so we are hoping to have smashed this.”

Schools need to send in their completed evidence to SignHealth, 5 Baring Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 2NB by Friday, March 15.
