WORK to rebuild the pavilion at Oughtibridge War Memorial Sports Club will begin next week when a host of dignitaries and sports personalities are set to attend a sod-cutting ceremony.
The new pavilion will replace one ruined by floods in 2007.
The ceremony will take place at the Memorial Sports Ground, Waterside Gardens, on Monday, at 10am.
It is hoped the new flood-proof facility, which will incorporate a sizeable lounge area, will be used by community groups.
A spokesman said: “This should now safeguard the existence of the sports facility which has existed as an important part of the village since 1921.
