achievements of 74 employees at building contractor Kier Sheffield have been celebrated at the company’s biannual recognition ceremony.

Held at Ice Sheffield, the ceremony saw employees congratulated by senior operations director Phil Oades, who presented certificates for a range of qualifications.

Courses passed included NVQ foundation and advanced certificates in plumbing, plastering, joinery, electrical installation, heating and ventilation and driver training.

Mr Oades said: “Completing training courses while also working full time is an outstanding achievement and we are proud of everyone who has been successful.

“At Kier Sheffield we employ almost 1,000 people from the local area and by encouraging participation in additional training opportunities we are ensuring the continuous development of our team.

“The 74 employees who have achieved industry-recognised qualifications have each proven their commitment to providing the safest and best possible service to the people of Sheffield.”

Other training achievements include completion of gas and unvented hot water reassessments, which updates installers on new building regulations requirements and ensures they are fully certified.

Certificates were also given to workers at the company who achieved HNC Building Services & Engineering, Internal Gas Verification and BTEC Level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment.

Kier Sheffield provides a repair service to more than 42,000 council houses across the city, as well as public buildings such as schools and council offices.
