SPECIALIST housing for elderly people will be built in Chesterfield and Clay Cross.
Extra Care developments are to take place at Foolow Court, Foolow Avenue, Chesterfield, with 55 apartments and communal facilities, and on the former school site in Market Street, Clay Cross, for 90 flats and day care facilities.
Planning permission has been granted for both schemes and work is to start in the New Year.
Derbyshire County Council has signed a deal with Chevin Housing Association to build a total of 600 extra care apartments over the next five to seven years.
The schemes are designed specifically to suit the needs of elderly people with modern apartments and shared communal facilities, usually including community rooms and a café or restaurant.
