ALMOST a mile of sewers are to be renewed in a Sheffield suburb with work beginning today.
Yorkshire Water has announced the major project in Hackenthorpe, which will see many of the local sewers either repaired or relined in an effort to reduce incidents where untreated water has seeped into the local watercourse, Shire Brook.
The work follows weeks of investigations, which have involved inserting CCTV cameras into the public sewers and taking photographs to understand the condition of the pipe work.
Most of the work will be in local gardens, but there will be some improvements required within the highway, particularly around Rainbow Avenue.
