A woman was talked down from the edge of the roof at a multi-storey car park in Sheffield city centre.
Police cordoned off the area surrounding Hartshead Square at around 1.30pm yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of a woman standing on the top of the building.
A police officer went to the top of the building and approached the lady at around 2.15pm.
The pair then spoke to one another for several minutes, as she stepped along a ledge above where the policeman was standing.
She stretched out her arms and leapt into the clutches of the police officer to safety.
An ambulance first responder car arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
The cordon was removed and the NCP car park was re-opened.
One shocked onlooker said: “I didn’t know what was going on.
“I was trying to get to the parking meter and the police told me to go away.
“ I looked up and then I spotted her.
They added: “All credit to South Yorkshire Police for talking her down.”
