A woman had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to Ridgeway Road at the junction with Kirkby Road on Gleadless Town End around 2.45pm on Saturday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the woman, aged 30, received 'relatively minor injuries' and was taken to Northern General Hospital a short time later.

Trams between Gleadless Town End and Sheffield city centre were delayed for over an hour as emergency services attended to the scene.

The spokesman added the police are not investigating the incident any further.
