A woman in her 20s has been sexually assaulted in a Sheffield underpass.

The incident happened at around 5.40am on Sunday morning as the 24-year-old woman was walking through the underpass that runs underneath the roundabout at the bottom of Ecclesall Road near to Waitrose.

A man is alleged to have sexually assaulted her.

The woman screamed and ran off into the Waitrose car park.

Police are now hunting the man alleged to have carried out the attack.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “The man is described as being black, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build and aged in his mid 20s.

“He is described as having dark brown eyes and a bit of stubble on his chin, and reportedly wearing a jacket and jeans.”

Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 244 of April 19, 2015.
