Woman seriously injured in Barnsley crash

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Barnsley yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the A628, Barnsley Road at the junction of Hall Head Lane, in Silkstone at around 5.10pm.

A silver Ford Ranger 4x4 travelling on the A628 towards Silkstone had collided with a silver Ford Fiesta, travelling in the opposite direction towards Dodworth.

A 25-year-old woman from Leeds, who was driving the Fiesta, was airlifted to the Northern General Hospital, in Sheffield, with serious injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Holmfirth, who was driving the Ford Ranger, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Barnsley Hospital.

Witnesses to the crash should call 101, quoting incident number 775 of October 5.
