A SHEFFIELD woman has set her sights on being crowned Miss Earth - a national beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.

Zara-Louise Gold-Manyou, aged 22, who works at The Source Skills Academy at Meadowhall, has been sponsored by the Sheffield-based shopping centre in her bid to represent England in the competition.

Zara, who has got through to the grand final, said: “I attended a training course at work based around working safety and we discussed the impact businesses can have on the environment.

“The trainer informed us of a startling fact that stuck with me and has inspired me to raise awareness.

“She said that one litre of solvent can contaminate 100 million litres of water. I was shocked to think such a small amount could have such a large effect.”
