Mountain rescue teams were called into action after a woman collapsed while hiking in the Peak District.

Teams from Buxton and Edale were called to reports that a 23-year-old woman had collapsed on the lower slopes of Kinder Scout on Thursday afternoon.

The Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was first on scene and the crew had become increasingly concerned for the young woman welfare who was suffering a severe asthma attack.

Team personnel responded urgently to the incident scene and the casualty was evacuated quickly by stretcher to the waiting aircraft which had managed to land nearby.

Emergency treatment was ongoing as the helicopter took off for the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
