Woman raped in alleyway after night out

A SHEFFIELD woman was raped behind a churchyard by a man she had met hours earlier during a night out in Doncaster.

The 23-year-old victim became separated from her pal momentarily when the rapist struck.

Police said the attack happened at around 3am on Sunday at the rear of the United Reformed Church, on Hallgate, Doncaster.

The woman had been out for the night in Doncaster town centre with a female friend before the attack.

The two women were walking along Hallgate with two men they had met during the evening when the victim was sexually assaulted by one of them in an alleyway.

The couples had separated momentarily when the sex attack took place in an alleyway leading to East Laithe Gate.

The women sought help from a member of the public, who flagged down a passing police car.

Det Con Paul Rooney, said the victim had given an account of what happened and would be interviewed in full at a later date.

Officers are now trawling through CCTV footage from the town's cameras.

The attacker was white, aged in his mid-20s, 5ft 6ins tall, of a medium build, with short, brown hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The other man was black, also mid-20s, with short hair, medium height, slim and wearing a blue, short sleeved shirt and black trousers.

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Det Con Paul Rooney at Mexborough on 01302 385670 or ring Crimestoppers on: 0800 555111.
