A WOMAN who said she had lied to police when she alleged she had been attacked in a ‘domestic’ has been cautioned by police for perverting the course of justice.
Amanda Wheatcroft, from Staveley, claimed she had been attacked by a 23-year-old man, Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard.
But when the suspect was due to appear at court charged in relation to the offence, Wheatcroft told police that she no longer wanted him prosecuted.
Andrew Legge, prosecuting, told the court: “She says it was a lie.
“We can’t proceed with the prosecution on that basis.
“I am told she has been cautioned for perverting the course of justice.”
