A WOMAN suffering exhaustion was carried to safety by mountain rescue team volunteers after she got lost during a day’s walking in the Peak District.
The 65-year-old had been on Bleaklow with her daughter in her 30s when they got separated in thick fog.
Fears were raised for the mother’s wellbeing, and she was eventually discovered by a search dog team in a cold, wet and exhausted state, unable to walk any further.
Rescue team members carried her off the hill on a stretcher.
Ian Bunting, leader of Edale Mountain Rescue Team, said: “The pair had become lost in thick fog and in addition the mother did not have a torch.
“Anyone out walking in the Peak District should ensure they have a map, compass, and a working torch, and know how to use them.”
