A woman killed in a house fire in Rotherham has been named by relatives today.

They said 37-year-old Margaret Appleby died in the blaze, while her mum, Jean Maskrey, 57, escaped.

She is believed to have jumped to safety from a bedroom window.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze in Rotherwood Crescent, Thurcroft, at 9.45pm and found the semi-detached property engulfed in flames.

Flames had ripped through the first floor and roof space.

Firefighters entered the burning property and found the body of Ms Appleby, who could not be revived.
