A woman was kicked and punched after being knocked to the ground in a gang attack outside a Rotherham pub.

The 37-year-old was pushed over by a man outside the Alpine pub in Grayson Road, Greasbrough, before being surrounded by a group of people who then repeatedly punched and kicked her as she was on the ground.

She needed hospital treatment for injuries to her head, face, arms and body.

PC Karen Holmes, investigating the attack at 1am on Saturday, February 20, said: “This was a nasty and sustained assault on a woman outside a pub on a Saturday night and we believe a number people will have witnessed the incident.

“We’re also aware that there is information circulating on social media and I’d urge anyone that could help with the investigation to make contact with police.

“The level of violence shown against the victim is concerning, so it’s important we identify those responsible as quickly as possible.”
