A YOUNG woman from Sheffield was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after her car crashed into a tree in rainy weather yesterday.
The 28-year-old, from High Green, was driving uphill on Grange Lane, Thorpe Hesley, when her grey Renault Clio lost control on the wet road surface while negotiating a left-hand bend.
Her car then spun around, hitting the tree on the driver’s door.
Emergency services were called to the scene - around 300 metres north of the junction with Grange Mill Lane - by another motorist at around 9.20am.
The woman was trapped in her car, cut free by firefighters, and taken by ambulance to the Northern General Hospital.
The road was closed for just under two-and-a-half hours between its junctions with Grange Mill Lane and Upper Wortley Road so that the car could be recovered.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident number 330 of December 4.
